Mathilde

Our 2.4-Metre (2.4mR) Para World Sailing Class fleet rose to three in the autumn of 2016 with the debut of Mathilde, joining sisters Peg and Skye, and allowing us to expand our racing fleet and capabilities going towards the 2017 Presidents Cup and beyond.

Mathilde’s arrival coincided with the exciting news that, as part of World Sailing’s drive to get sailing back into the Paralympics for 2024, the 2.4mR has survived a re-jig of proposed Paralympic classes in which the Skud 18 and Sonar classes will most probably drop out. The other exciting news for BLS is that the Hansa 303 is now included as a Para World Sailing events class with a chance of being selected as a Paralympics class. So BLS remains well placed to continue to offer a sailing pathway for people living with disabilities that runs from simply having fun messing about in boats all the way to going for gold.

Mathilde was acquired from a UK donor charity.
